Hearing “you can’t” can be devastating. Maybe not the first time, or even a few times. But when you constantly hear “you can’t,” “you won’t,” and “why would you”—even in unspoken ways—the word can’t starts to define you. It becomes the way you see the world.

Through 1:1 mentoring, daily classrooms, life-skills/character qualities building, and family support help students in Parkrose say “yes, I can.” We are knocking down barriers to success, to help kids find their “I can” moments. Join us! bit.ly/2AXhAz6

And that's a wrap! We ended camp with a bang, working on defensive slides, taking charges, and diving after loose balls. Played some 3-on-3, 2-on-2, 1-on-1, and even go some push-ups in with Coach Marty (aka: Coach Swole). The kids went home happy and tired, which means the first annual Elevate summer basketball camp was a success!! ... See MoreSee Less

FOOD DRIVE Aims to stock shelves at Dover Food Pantry

We need your help to make this year’s bounty the biggest ever!

Every year since 1997, Dr. Deborah Ayer of Wellspring Center for Wellbeing in downtown Dover has sponsored HOPE Day, a day dedicated to HOPE (Helping Other People Eat.) The owner loves inspiring her patients to support the needy in Dover by offering her services complimentary in exchange for a full bag of non-perishable goods.

Wellspring scheduled this year’s event for July 16 from noon to 6 p.m.

Signs revealing local, national and international hunger facts cover the walls of the 1 Waldron Court office space. The plight of the hungry inspired Dover resident and business owner Beth Power of Awakening Touch to offer half-hour massages until July 16 as well, in exchange for a bag of groceries. She also suggested Ayer widen the scope of this year’s HOPE Day to include other Dover businesses. This is where you come in.

How you can help.

Gentle Journey at the Beach!

gentle-journeyThurs, Oct 11th to Sun, Oct 14th, 2012
Register

Come spend a long weekend on the beautiful Maine Coast connecting with the salt air, the ocean breeze and the ebb and flow of nature as you also connect to your own natural ebb and flow.

Using simple art materials, guided invitations, conscious breath and body awareness exercises you will touch in to your spirit, mind, body and soul as you access inner knowing and bring it out into visual form. This is a profound and simple process.

No art experience is needed.

Sally and Beth have shared this process with many from the professional artist to the “I can’t draw a straight line” club. They encourage a non-judgemental, inclusive atmosphere where you can safely explore using line, form and color.
